We are continuing our cycle in which we present the lineups of teams from PGE Ekstraliga 2026. In the third part we show Betard Sparta Wroclaw.
In the two-leg tie for the bronze medal in the 2025 season, Betard Sparta proved stronger than Bayersystem GKM Grudziądz. The team from Wroclaw defeated in the first duel on the hometrack the popular “Pidgeons” 61:29. Whereas in the rematch in Grudziadz they lost 46:44. The proteges of Dariusz Sledz finished the rivalry in liga on third position.
The leader of the team from Wroclaw was Artem Laguta. The rider finished the season with an average of 2.236 points per heat.
After the season, there were no major changes to Sparta’s lineup. Still the points for Betard Sparta Wroclaw will collect Maciej Janowski. Artem Laguta will also race in the team. Daniel Bewley has also been making huge progress year after year. He produced some excellent rides in a number of meetings last season. Brady Kurtz will once again be one of Sparta’s key riders.
After quite well season 2025 Bartlomiej Kowalski would still be a strong part of the team on the position of the rider of U24. Marcel Kowolik could become the leader of Sparta’s youth lineup in the upcoming season, and he has already shown on track that he has enormous potential.
Meanwhile, from the senior lineup, Jakub Krawczyk was loaned out to Ostrów after finishing his junior years.
There is a change of the coach in the team from the Capital of Dolny Slask. Dariusz Sledz will be replaced by well known in Wroclaw Piotr Protasiewicz.
“Thirty years ago, Piotr Protasiewicz was one of the leaders of the WTS team that claimed their third consecutive Polish Team Championship gold medal. He comes back in another role, and we hope he will be a key figure in our fight for the top goals. As three decades earlier, Piotr is a proffesional and ambitious person, that’s why we are sure he will be an excellent fit as the leader of Betard Sparta Wrocław’s coaching staff” – said Andrzej Rusko, chairman of WTS.
“I had different plans, but the phone from Andrzej Rusko and the course of the meeting caused that I am in Wroclaw. The vision and scope of our cooperation are well defined. I’ve been placed in a position of great trust. I know the expectations, I’m fully aware that I’m joining a great club, which is perfectly managed and which has a big sport ambition. I promise that, as always, I will give it my all” – said Piotr Protasiewicz.
