The rivaley in this year’s Speedway Grand Prix is beginning. For the first points in SGP 2025 the riders will compete on the track in Lundshut.
There will be changes in regulations this year. The number of riders automatically qualified for SGP 2026 grows from six to seven.
As a result the SGP commision, the common commission the motorcycle races Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) and the global promotor FIM Speedway, Warner Bros. Discovery Sports will award only three permanent ‚wild cards’ for 2026 season instead of four, as it was till now.
The winner of Speedway European Championship and four best riders in FIM SGP Challenge in Holsted in Denmark on August 9 will compete in SGP 2026. The SGP Commission decided to grant one automatic berth, so that 12 places in 15 line-up can be fought on the track.
There will also be more rounds in 2025 season. Before the tournaments the riders will take part in sprint races also with changed regulations.
The rules of the tournament have also changed. After the main round two top-sciring riders are prompter to the final. Whereas the riders on third and tenth position will compete in two play-off races. The winners will compete in the final.
In 2025 the best riders in the world will fight for the Championship in Speedway Grand Prix in ten tournaments.
The first round will be held in Lundshut on May 3. Whereas the past round is stated for September 13 in Vojens.
At the begginning it was planned for one of the rounds on the artuficial track in Cardiff, but the idea was finally changed. Instead of this the additional round in Manchester will be organised. The riders will compete on the local track for points for general classification for the Championship on June 13 and 14 in 2025.
Summarising the event in Lundshut is shaping up to be very exciting. Between favourites , apart from Bartosz Zmarzlik, Fredrik Lindgren and Robert Lambert Martin Vaculik is also mentioned.
